Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Hilal mobile application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

Description of Service

Hilal is an Islamic companion application that provides:

  • Prayer time calculations based on your location
  • Qibla direction compass
  • Ramadan fasting tracker
  • Islamic quotes and daily reflections
  • Prayer notifications and reminders
  • Home screen and lock screen widgets

Use of the App

Eligibility

The App is available to users of all ages. By using the App, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

Permitted Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Modify, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
  • Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the App
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App
  • Use the App for any commercial purpose without our consent

Prayer Times Disclaimer

The prayer times provided by the App are calculated using astronomical formulas and are intended as a helpful reference. While we strive for accuracy:

  • Prayer times may vary based on calculation method, location accuracy, and other factors
  • We recommend verifying prayer times with your local mosque or Islamic authority
  • The App should not be solely relied upon for determining prayer times
  • We are not responsible for any consequences arising from reliance on the App's prayer times

Qibla Direction Disclaimer

The Qibla direction feature uses your device's compass and GPS. Accuracy depends on proper device calibration and environmental factors. We recommend using the Qibla direction as a general guide and verifying with established local Qibla direction when available.

Subscriptions and Payments

Free Trial

We may offer a free trial period for premium features. At the end of the trial, you will be automatically charged unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Subscription Terms

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (yearly). Your subscription will automatically renew unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. Refund requests must be made directly to Apple in accordance with their refund policy.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its content, features, and functionality, is owned by Hilal and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Islamic texts (Quranic verses, Hadith) included in the App are in the public domain.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOUR USE OF THE APP IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HILAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MISSED PRAYERS, INCORRECT QIBLA DIRECTION, OR FASTING TRACKING ERRORS.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after any changes indicates your acceptance of the new Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
